On Bonfire Night, I did something that Past Emily would've hated me for: I went to my first Christmas event of the year. I'm not a massive Christmas person. I don't hate it, but I certainly do enjoy it, I just generally like to wait until December until I start doing anything remotely Christmassy. But this year, things are different. This year, I had a Christmas blogging event to attend!
The Blogosphere Magazine Christmas Market was held at the Strand Gallery in London, not at all far from Charing Cross Station. After walking round in circles ever so slightly lost in true Emily fashion, I finally found the gallery tucked away down a small side street. Upon entering the gallery, I was warmly greeted and handed a lovely Blogosphere tote bag and the latest edition of the magazine.
I was first exposed to Blogosphere back in February when I attended Blognix Retreat - I instantly fell in love with the magazine, reading it from cover to cover. When I learnt they were throwing a Christmas event for bloggers to network with each other and brands, I knew I had to go.
The brands showcasing on the day were The London Tea Company, Latest in Beauty, So Fragrances, 7th Heaven Facemasks and Social Superstore. Social Superstore and 7th Heaven I have met before (at Bloggers Festival), and I was particularly excited to have a chat with 7th Heaven again as I am loving their facemasks at the moment.
The Social Superstore stand was really cute, with lots of Christmassy cake pops on show and the chance to take some silly Christmas polaroids too. For those not in the know, Social Superstore allows you to create your very own "online store" that you can share on your blog and earn commission from. They work with a lot of big brands so you can be sure to share your own favourites in your store. I'm in the process of setting mine up now!
7th Heaven did not disappoint. There was a demonstration of the brand new nail and cuticle mask, which I can't wait to use - it'll really help me with my goal of growing my nails. I'll be reviewing a few masks on my blog very soon, so watch this space.
So Fragrances bring back a lot of teenage memories for me, So...Sinful and So...Wild were my fragrances of choice for a while. Unfortunately these days I don't get along with aerosol sprays so imagine my delight when I found out they now do body mists! These were so nice, particularly the Watermelon and the White Petals one. If you've got any teenage ladies in your life, it's certainly worth looking at the So... giftsets for a Christmas present.
Perhaps one of the most beautifully presented brands of the day was Latest in Beauty. I wasn't aware of this brand prior to the event but now I am intrigued by them. It's basically a beauty box where you choose how many and what products you receive. I personally think this is an amazing idea. I'm not that interested in traditional beauty boxes because I'm exceptionally fussy about my skincare and a bit choosy about my makeup too. However, something where I do have a bit of control but still get exposed to new brands sounds like a genius idea.
The most delicious exhibitor of the day had to be The London Tea Company. We were lucky enough to be treated to two cups of tea: the Winter Wondermint flavour and the brand new, coming soon Purple Tea. Winter Wondermint was like Christmas in my mouth and the Purple Tea was insanely delicious, right up my street.
It was great to meet with both new and familiar brands, as well as meet some new blogger friends. I had a really lovely time at the #BlogosphereChristmas event and I can't wait to sit down and give the current issue of the magazine a read.
